It has one of the world’s finest university systems, with outstanding programs in virtually all fields. A majority of the world’s top ranking colleges call USA home. These colleges and universities rank high in world rankings because of their infrastructure, technological advancements and top quality of education provided by them.
The US has more than 3000 colleges and university institutions where nearly 6 million International students study in different courses for various programs.
Because the US attracts talent, and the best brains from all over the world, people with a hunger to learn, enjoy the US as a study destination. Because there are no cultural boundaries, people are also fortunate enough to learn about different cultures of the world, as they find communities from different sections of the society within the campus. USA is a leader in technology. This simply translates into an advantage, which gives the students who study here, an edge over others, in real life. Hence a US degree is beneficial in several aspects and preferred over others.
In the 20th and 21st centuries the U.S. has become the magnet for hundreds of thousands of bright, ambitious students around the world. The U.S. is the preferred destination for Indian students because U.S. higher educational institutions offer: academic excellence, cutting-edge technology, extensive support services for international students, generous funding opportunities, wide variety of educational options, flexible curricula and hands-on training (OPT and CPT).
WHY STUDY IN USA
Every year, the number of international students in the US rises as more and more students choose the Unites States as the place they wanted to broaden their experience and continue their education. In fact, the US is now the most popular country for international students. Why do so many international students choose U.S. colleges and universities?
Academic Excellence
The United States has one of the world’s finest university systems, with outstanding programs in virtually all fields. At the undergraduate level, excellent programs exist in traditional disciplines, as well as in professional fields. At the graduate level, students have the opportunity to work directly with some of the finest minds in their field of study, with the chance to become involved with exclusive research and educational opportunities. U.S. degrees are recognized throughout the world for their excellence.
Variety of Educational Opportunities
The United States is home to several thousand colleges and universities, boasting at least ten times as many campuses as in any other country. As a result, the higher education system in the U.S. has something for everyone. Some U.S. colleges and universities stress broad educational principles; others emphasize practical, employment-related skills; and still others specialize in the arts, social sciences or technical fields. This means that no matter what you plan on studying, you will have a wide variety of programs in yourparticular field from which to choose.
Cutting-Edge Technology
Universities in the U.S. pride themselves on being at the forefront of technology, research and techniques, and in making the best possible equipment and resources available to their students. Even if your field does not directly involve science or engineering, you will have opportunities to become skilled in using the latest technology to conduct research, as well as obtain and process information. You will find ways to stay connected with researchers, teachers and experts in your field all over the world.
Opportunity for Research, Teaching and Training
You may be able to gain valuable experience through teaching and/or research while you help to finance your education in the U.S., particularly if you are a graduate student. Many graduate programs offer training and teaching opportunities that enable students to become teaching assistants to undergraduates and/or research assistants on special projects exploring different aspects of your field of study. International students are some of the most valued teachers and researchers in U.S. universities because they bring new skills and ideas to the classroom and library or laboratory. This practical component of your education will prove useful in your future career, and may give you insights into your field that would not be possible through course study alone.
Flexibility
Although many programs are highly structured in that specific coursework requirements must be met, you will generally be able to find a wide variety of course choices to meet those requirements. For example, liberal arts coursework for an undergraduate program will include classes in languages and mathematics, but you will be given a wide variety of classes which fit those requirements, and the freedom to decide which classes best match your interests.
At the advanced stages of a degree, or if you are pursuing a graduate degree, you will be able to tailor your coursework to fit your specific academic goals, needs and interests. When you choose topics for independent study for a graduate thesis or dissertation, you can emphasize ideas that are important to you, your field and your country. Support Services for International Students
Studying in the United States is a rewarding experience, but navigating your way through day-to-day issues can be a challenge. Many international students find that the college and university international student office is a great resource when it comes to adapting to a culturally and academically different environment. The mission of the international student office is to assist students like you, and there is often a wide range of student services that they provide
An orientation program upon your arrival is just the start of the many programs and benefits of the university international student office – throughout your time in the U.S., they can help answer questions you may have regarding your visa status, financial situation, housing, employment possibilities, health concerns and more. If you choose to complete your degree in the United States, this office often provides resume and employment assistance as graduation nears. The international student office will be an invaluable source of information and help as you make the transition into academic and cultural life in the United States.
Experience in an international setting is a marketable commodity. Many employers seek the wide range of knowledge, adaptability and experience that international students acquire by studying in the United States. Companies in the U.S. are increasingly seeking to become a strong presence in the global marketplace. They often look to hire employees who not only have multi-cultural language skills, but those who can also help communicate, negotiate and conduct business across different cultures.
The United States is not the only country seeking strong candidates when hiring; international students are in high demand elsewhere, as well. In recent years, international companies have become much more proactive in recruiting from the pool of strong international student graduates. Your long-term career prospects can be enhanced by your experiences through the development of self-confidence, independence and cross-cultural skills – attributes which are in high demand with employers worldwide.

USA EDUCATION SYSTEM
One of the most attractive features of the U.S. higher education system is the flexibility it provides through the number and diversity of institution types it encompasses.
This diversity offers students options to specialize in a variety of academic disciplines and even gain employment training. More than 4,500 accredited institutions make up U.S. higher education in the United States. Unlike many countries, U.S. higher education institutions are not centrally organized or managed, but are accredited on a national or regional level by independent accrediting bodies. A variety of institution types offer higher-education degrees. Liberal arts institutions, for example, offer courses in the arts, humanities, languages, and social and physical sciences. The majority of liberal arts institutions are private. Private colleges and universities are funded by a combination of endowments, gifts from alumni, research grants, and tuition fees. Private colleges and universities are usually smaller than public institutions and can have a religious affiliation or be single-sex schools.
Community colleges are another option and provide two-year associate degree programs to prepare students to continue studies for an undergraduate degree or help them gain occupational skills for immediate employment. State colleges and universities, also called “public universities,” were founded and subsidized by U.S. state governments to provide a low-cost education to residents of that state. Public universities generally offer access to research opportunities and classes in a wide variety of fields of study. These universities tend to be very large and generally admit a wider range of students than private universities. Each student’s interests will guide his/her choice among the many possibilities.
Regardless of the institution type, in the United States, students typically earn credits for courses they take and these credits count towards the completion of a program. Courses are often divided into “core” subject areas to provide the foundation of the degree program and “major” courses to provide specialization in a subject area. Students can also take “elective” courses to explore other topics of interest for a well-rounded educational experience.
The U.S. academic calendar typically runs from September to May and can be divided into two academic terms of 16-18 weeks known as semesters. Alternatively, some schools may operate on a quarter or trimester system of multiple terms of 10-12 weeks.
With the variety of available U.S. higher education options, students are sure to find the right fit for their academic, financial, and personal needs.
DURATION OF COURSE
The US has some of the finest colleges in the world that utilize traditional methods and cutting edge technology to impart knowledge to students. Universities in the USA offer countless options when it comes to quality higher education. Some of the courses available are:
- Associate Degree (2 years)
- Bachelor’s Degree (4 years)
- Master’s Degree (2 years)
- Doctorate Degree (3 to 6 years)
There are about 3500 universities in USA that offer the widest choice of over 1000 courses from any field under the sun. 90% of world’s Nobel Laureates teach in US Universities. We carry the space with you
The US has the largest number of universities in the world and currently has seven out of the top ten in the THES-QS World University Rankings – Harvard, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Yale, Stanford, CalTech, Berkeley and Princeton. In total there are literally hundreds of public and private higher education establishments offering a range of courses that you could barely imagine.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
Each university would have its own general eligibility criteria, as well as specific academic qualifications that applicants must possess. Students must also provide proof of their proficiency in the English by providing their IELTS or TOEFL scores.
Other test scores that may be required for specialized courses are listed below:
- GRE (Graduate Record Examination) for graduate degrees
- SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) for bachelor’s degrees
- GMAT (Graduate Management Aptitude Test) for MBA and other management courses
- LSAT (Law School Admission Test) for law degrees
- MCAT (Medical College Admission Test) for medical courses
COST OF EDUCATION
The cost of studying in the United States is a bit on the higher end. Private universities charge relatively more than community colleges that are funded by the state. But even public universities do charge students who’ve applied to study from out of state. The annual tuition costs for studying in the US starts at 8 lakh rupees.
Cost of Education 7000 to 15,000 USD Per Annum
On the bright side, the US does offer a wide selection of merit based scholarships to students who have a stellar academic record. Students who’ve received scholarships are expected to maintain a high GPA and be involved in various academic and extra-curricular activities within the university. Students will have to budget for additional expenses such as books, supplies, food and accommodation.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
The academic year in American universities usually begins in August each year, but some colleges also accept fresh intakes in the month of January. Each university would have its own admission standards, so students have to verify all the intricate details before sending out their application forms.
Here’s a generic overview of the application procedure in US universities:
- Meet with one of our education consultants and narrow down the courses and universities that meet the student’s needs.
- Check out each university’s requirements and prepare the application forms accordingly.
- Some colleges may require students to send a personal essay and a few letters of recommendation.
- Send the application to the university along with all the required documents.
- Once the offer letter is received, reply with a confirmation, and proceed to apply for a student visa.
- Get relevant visa documents in order, including financial proof and intent to return back to the home country.
- Schedule and attend the visa interview.
- Once the visa has been approved, coordinate with the university and plan the travel and accommodation details.
WORK RIGHTS
The USA gives international students to undertake Curricular Practical Training (CPT). This authorizes them to train in the relevant industries or work as a paid intern. Students can work part-time (less than 20 hours per week) or full-time (more than 20 hours per week) and earn a living in US dollars. This work might also be considered as work experience in their relevant fields.
CPT work study programs give students sufficient support to acquire paid jobs either on campus or off campus, based on their course and how long they’ve been studying in the US. Universities are also flexible with their courses, so students can schedule their classes around their work timings and vice versa. Having an American degree also boosts the chances of students to secure a job in their field after education, as long as they meet all eligibility criteria.
